Younsik Kim (*1992 Seoul, based in Munich) is an artist who works with multimedia mediums based on sculpture and installation. 

In an era dominated by multimedia contemporary mediums, he works on the theme of the finitude of sculpture’s Body and material existence, and the alternative preservation and restoration of such limitations – The material finitude of the sculpture, he calls it the physical death of the sculpture.

Recently, he has been working with digital media such as video and sound and sculptural media with traditional materials such as ceramics and metal, organising the two media with different properties into a narrative context to build relationships and present ideas about circulation between the physical and immaterial (digital-based) worlds.

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich (Alexandra Bircken) and Chung-Ang University (KR). And recently won the prizes “Kulturpreis Bayern 2024” and “Preis der Erwin und Gisela von Steiner Foundation”.
